A significant proportion of waste plastics is mixed with other waste streams which is impossible or very difficult to recycle fraction. Current practice is that these waste streams are being incinerated and including it’s value.

Integrated Hydro-pyrolysis as a thermochemical recycling technology is relatively robust for identification. The presence of biomass does not lead to low-grade acidic pyrolysis oil, but to high-grade low-sulfur feeds for naphtha crackers feeding the plastic production or low-sulfur blend stocks for (MGO type marine) fuels.

The hydrogenation is an integrated part of the process, without the addition of external hydrogen, which is highly beneficial for the business case.

URBAN MINING

In urban areas, processing of Municipal Solid Waste in the Hydro Cat 3 can yield 30 % or more the residential electric consumption. No more costly hauling to large incineration facilities and an end to landfilling and the associated environmental and healt problems.

In waste treatment , apart from conversion to energy , valuable components such as scrap metal and minerals can be recovered

PERFORMANCE

Depending on the input material, 1 ton of dry input yields approximately 300 kg fuel oil and 2,5 mw gas. Apart from the attractive economical effects with a pay back period of a few years, the environmental effects are extremely favorable. Considerable reductions of CO2 emissions can be realiszed when biomass is used as input material.
